Bento António Caparica, coachman to the Royal Household from the late 19th to the early 20th century, guides visitors through the carriage collection of the Coach Museum, revealing the purpose, symbolism and transformation of each vehicle over time.
Through the eyes of a craftsman, every coach, carriage, litter and sedan chair becomes a living witness to eras, ceremonies and social change — culminating in memories of the 1908 Regicide.
“Wheels of Memory” is a sensory and historical journey that weaves together heritage, theatre and imagined testimony, bringing the Museum’s collections to life.
