Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum
The Counts still receive visitors. And the palace remains immaculate.
The Condes de Castro Guimarães Museum is one of the most romantic and eccentric manor houses in Cascais. Built at the end of the 19th century by the sea, it blends medieval, Manueline and Arabic influences into a unique architecture that reflects the taste of its era. The last owner, the Count of Castro Guimarães, bequeathed the palace and his entire collection to the Municipality of Cascais — furniture, azulejo tiles, tapestries, books and works of art preserved exactly as the Counts left them. Now a municipal museum, it is an invitation to enter a house where time has stood still — and where the hosts come back to life to welcome you.
