Frigate D. Fernando II e Glória
The last ship of the India route still has much to tell..
The Frigate D. Fernando II e Glória is the last exclusively sail-powered vessel of the Portuguese Navy and one of the oldest warships in the world still afloat. Built in Daman, India, in 1843, she spent decades sailing the seas before returning to Portugal. Now anchored in Cacilhas, with views over the Tagus and Lisbon, she is an invitation to come aboard — literally. On this theatre-visit, from bow to stern, from deck to hold, every space and every object has a story to tell. And at the end, there is still time to learn the first sailors’ knots.
